What is Osteoid Osteoma?
Osteoid osteoma is a small, benign (noncancerous) tumor that develops in the bone. It most often occurs in the long bones of the arms and legs, such as the thigh bone or shinbone, although it can occur in any bone. The tumor is made up of osteoid, which is a bone-like substance. Osteoid osteoma is usually found in young adults between the ages of 10 and 30. The emergence of such tumors is more prevalent in the male counterparts than in the female counterparts.
What Are the Symptoms of Osteoid Osteoma?
The most common symptom happens to be pain; debilitating pain. The pain is often worse at night and may interfere with sleep, but improves by taking pain medications like aspirin.
